Ideal for those just starting out. As always, any information that you tell me will remain strictly confidetial. Benefit from my decades long experience and see whether hunting your ancestors is a hobby for you.
Please bring a pen, a pad of lined paper and a roll of sticky tape. Please come prepared with as much information about your ancestors as you already know: full names, year and place of birth, occupations, names of their siblings, and other family members, so I can guide you on your journey back in time. You may find helpful information in a family Bible, old letters, obituaries and old photographs. | | 2. How to use Ancestry.com Tuition
This website can be very confusing with all the waving branches! I have been using Ancestry.com since ithe 1980s. Over the years the site has improved and is continually being updated. I charge $25 per person for 3 hours ($20 for seniors), Small groups welcome. I am happy to meet you in Perth, south of the river. | | 3. Research Commissioned by the Hour - very popular: you decide how much you want to spend, and I will find out as much as possible about your ancestors in the time allocated.
I undertake research for AUD$25.00 per hour. I am happy to research one person, one surname or an entire tree. A fresh pair of eyes could solve your Brick Wall. I conduct most of my research online and at the LDS Family History Center. I have access to genealogical websites, and can also do small look-ups for you, pro-rata. Please contact me for a free consultation. | | 4. Fixed Price Research Packages - Two Choices:
Starting with one of your grandparents or great-grandparents, I will aim to trace your ancestors back to around 1800, to a maximum of 5 generations.
* One Line researched to about 1800: AUD $175.00 + postage.
The object of this package is to trace one surname or line of your family back 5 generations. You will be emailed one tree, like the one pictured on the right.
* All Ancestors researched to about 1800: AUD $700.00 + postage.
The object of this package is to trace all your direct ancestors. Starting with one individual, this leads to 2 parents, 4 grandparents, and 8 great-grandparents, and so on, to a maximum of 30 direct ancestors. You will be emailed four family trees, like the one line tree on the right, together with a 5 generational chart showing all your ancestors.
Both fixed price packages come with a family tree created on Ancestry.com which you can edit.
As far as possible, I will find out the details of each direct ancestor's life, including the year and places of birth, marriage and death, their occupations, where they lived, and the names, and the year and places of birth of their children.
Reference will be provided to censuses, certificates, and parish records etc which were consulted during the making of your family tree.
| | I require a deposit of 30% in advance, and payment in full upon completion of the research project. Payments may be made by bank deposit in Australia and New Zealand or with paypal.
Optional Extras:
* A computer file called a gedcom, which contains your family tree, and which you can then upload to a genealogy website, or send to your relations. This is the most efficient way of sharing and transferring your family tree. AUD $50.00
* Complete set of all birth and marriage certificates supplied at cost.
* Additional research to flesh out your tree, including:
- Obtaining your ancestors' death certificates. (This is generally not necessary in order to track people down, but can be helpful for ascertaining medical history, or, if someone died in, say, 1840, and was 80 years old, you have a clear and proven link back to 1760.
- Locating all your ancestors' grandchildren. (This can be full of surprises: my grandmother was a servant; her first cousin was presented at Court!)

Sadly there are many trees on that website which have issues. There is lots of copying without analysis. With my knowledge and experience I can review your tree and make sure that you are on the right track.

Over the years I have created family trees going back hundred of years, for many people. These charts make wonderful birthday presents. This is time consuming as each tree is custom made, but the end result is unique and you can frame it. | | 9. Gift Certificates
The perfect birthday or Christmas gift for those who appear to have everything, or a thoughtful present for that someone special in your life. This is a truly unique and memorable gift.
Decide which research package you would like to purchase. When you are happy to proceed, I will send you a paypal invoice by email. Upon receipt of payment, I will email you a specially numbered certificate which you can print out and give to the recipient.
